The second annual event featured reading, painting, and outdoor activities.
Second Lady Usha Vance hosted dozens of families this past weekend for “Camp VPR.” The one-day camp is held on the lawn of the Naval Observatory, the Vice President’s Residence (VPR). Children read books, colored, painted, played, and dug in a play garden as part of the launch of the second lady’s summer reading challenge. There was also a rock wall, a slip n’ slide, an inflatable obstacle course, an inflatable moon bounce, and face painting.
“We kicked off an exciting summer of sunshine, outdoor play, and reading at Camp VPR,” Second Lady Usha Vance said, encouraging children to “keep the fun going all summer long with my Summer Reading Challenge!”
The second family also partnered with the Department of Agriculture and local 4-H students to teach the campers about the new chicken coop installed on the property.
Vice President JD Vance participated in the event, as well as the second couple’s three children. The second lady is carrying their fourth child, a third son, and is due in July. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, who is on maternity leave after the birth of her daughter last month, also attended Camp VPR with her family.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For health for Second Lady Usha Vance and the baby during the remainder of the pregnancy.
- For the second lady as she promotes the summer reading challenge and encourages outdoor activities.
- For the vice president as he fulfills his role as a husband and father as well as his position in President Trump’s administration.
